FULLY WELDED WITHOUT TORSION
This is a frame completely welded in our frame jig, EXCEPT for the installation of the Volkswagen type-1, rear suspension unit. We still need to know the type of rear suspension you are using as the support tube lengths vary. The kit also includes; solid rear transmount, frame horn supports, seat back brace, shift box with tube hanger, front end clamps and bolts, 2 corner floor gussets, bracket for self aligning steering bearing, brackets for master cylinder & pedal assemblies, 8 universal tabs.
FULLY WELDED WITH TORSION
This frame is completely welded in our frame jig, AND the Volkswagen type-1, rear suspension unit is completely installed. For this frame the customer must either supply a type-1 suspension core or pay an additional core charge. The kit also includes; solid rear transmount, frame horn supports, seat back brace, shift box with tube hanger, front end clamps & bolts, 2 corner floor gussets, bracket for self aligning steering bearing, brackets for master cylinder & pedal assemblies, 8 universal tabs.
HIGH SIDE
This references the distance between the top and bottom frame rails and roll cage design. The distance between the rails, at the drivers elbow is 15 ¾”. This is 2 ½” longer than the “low side” frames. The main sections of the roll cage are mounted front to rear with straight cross braces. This design is similar to Sprint Cars and full competition off road race cars. This design requires an extra cross bar in the windshield area if a D.O.T. safety glass windshield is going to be installed. Our “pickup style rear roll cage kit” is NOT available on high side frames.
KNOCK DOWN KIT
Knock down kits, are designed for economy. The frames are the lowest price for their type, and they are the least expensive to ship. The bottom frame rails, front clamps, and cross tubes are tack welded together in our jig. The rest of the frame is unassembled. All the pieces are cut to length, notched at the joints, and mandrel bent. Written instructions and a dimensional drawing are provided. Assembly time varies with the skill level of the builder but 8 to 10 hours to assemble and weld is a reasonable expectation. This kit also comes with; solid rear transmount, shift box with tube hanger, front end clamps & bolts, seat back brace, under bars have nuts welded in.
LOW SIDE
Describes the distance between the top and bottom frame rails and roll cage design. The distance between the rails, at the drivers elbow is 13 ¼”. This is 2 ½” less than a high rail frame. The roll cage is constructed with side to side “hoops” in a more traditional style frame. The front hoop design makes the installation of a D.O.T. safety glass windshield much simpler. A windshield gasket will fit the shape of the hoop without any additions or modifications. The design of the low side cars also allows us to offer an optional “pick up” style rear roll cage, for added carrying space.
